It's not easy to take over another company: With the help of TCP Cloud, Mirantis intends to enable continuous updates in OpenStack installations in the future.

The Californian OpenStack specialist Mirantis takes over the Czech cloud provider TCP Cloud. The Prague-based company specializes in Managed Services at OpenStack , OpenContrail and Kubernetes. One important asset of the acquisition is TCP Cloud Continuous Delivery Technology. This allows users of Mirantis OpenStack to maintain their own installations continuously.

TCP Cloud should also strengthen the Mirantis initiative , which is being implemented with Google and Intel. OpenStack users thus receive the cloud platform on a continuous delivery basis . The combination of Mirantis and TCP Cloud will solve the upgrade problem, one of the biggest burdens of on-premise infrastructures.

This gives the user practically a "public cloud experience". Mirantis will integrate the technology of TCP Cloud, MK.20 , with Mirantis OpenStack . The MK.20 infrastructure-as-code environment design patterns are already being used by public cloud providers such as AWS, Google Compute Cloud and Microsoft Azure. These providers use the solution to service cloud installations. In the next version of Mirantis OpenStack, MK.20 will be integrated into Mirantis Fuel, bringing together the management of OpenStack with the corresponding open source infrastructure software.

"The infrastructure deployment model that traditional vendors use does not fit with today's modern software development practices. The disruptive companies of the digital age are releasing new code for production several times a day, while traditional providers only bring infrastructure to the market every few years as costly and expensive upgrades, "commented Alex Freedland, CEO of Mirantis. Thanks to the new technology, Mirantis can now adapt its own delivery model accordingly.

"The integration between Openstack and Kubernetes simplifies deployment and extends enterprise cloud capabilities," said Jonathan Donaldson, vice president of Software Defined Infrastructure at Intel. "Mirantis' acquisition of TCP Cloud represents an important step toward our common goal of bringing a groundbreaking open SDI stack to market."

Miranits is one of the most important companies for the further development of OpenStack. The company specializes solely in this cloud technology and is regularly the organization with the most contributions. In the run-up to the spin-off of HPEs software division has already been rumored in industry circles that Mirantis could be acquired by HPE. For HPE, which has made clear at the latest since the Eucalyptus takeover that it will build its own private cloud strategy around OpenStack, this would of course be a big step.
